Eggnog overnight oats are a delicious way to use up leftover eggnog! It’s a festive breakfast idea (or dessert) that’s ultra-creamy and perfectly spiced. And if you think ahead, you can always omit the alcohol from the eggnog.
This classic eggnog is the drink of the holidays. But have you ever had it in overnight oats? If not, well, you’re in for a special treat. This eggnog overnight oats recipe substitutes the milk and sweetener in the regular overnight oats recipe with already-made eggnog (either homemade or store-bought) for a delightfully creamy, sweet, and spiced variation. It’s truly Christmas in a jar.
I love to make this when I crave something sweet for breakfast. But it also doubles as a quick holiday dessert that’s already prepped in the fridge. Who doesn’t love that? So, the next time eggnog is on your mind, don’t forget these easy overnight oats!
Eggnog Overnight Oats Ingredients
- Rolled oats: Use old-fashioned rolled oats for the best chunky texture. If you’re gluten-free, make sure to use certified gluten-free rolled oats. You can find the one I’m using linked in the recipe card below.
- Eggnog: Whether you’re using my homemade recipe or store-bought eggnog, this is all you need for the liquid portion in overnight oats. No extra sweetener or vanilla extract is needed.
- Yogurt: I love Greek yogurt for a tangy touch, but plain yogurt will work just fine.
- Chia Seeds: Although these are optional, they help thicken the overnight oats. Plus, they have tons of added health benefits. So, why not?
How To Make Eggnog Overnight Oats
Stir everything together. Add the rolled oats, eggnog, Greek yogurt, and chia seeds into a sealable jar or bowl. Then, stir until everything is well mixed. Note: You can find my favorite mason jar linked in the recipe card below!
Let it soak. Store the jar in the fridge for at least 2 hours. But it’s best to soak overnight for a smooth and creamy texture. When you’re ready to enjoy, extra toppings are more than welcome. Add a dash of cinnamon or sliced almonds!
STORAGE TIPS
This recipe is meant for just one serving (or one container). So, if you’d like to make a bigger batch of this for friends and family, just double or triple the recipe.
- To Store: Whether it’s a single serving or a big batch, it will keep for 3 to 4 days in the fridge.
- For Freezing: If you’d like to enjoy this in a later month, freeze it in a freezer-safe jar. It will stay good for up to 3 months.

Lisa’s Tips
