This watermelon smoothie is exactly what you want on a hot summer day! It’s perfectly creamy, naturally sweet, and the ultimate thirst quencher.

There’s truly nothing more refreshing than chilled watermelon all summer long. I’m a big fan of chopping watermelon up to make my watermelon, cucumber and feta salad, or grilling it for smoky, cilantro lime grilled watermelon. But a cold glass of watermelon agua fresca or this creamy smoothie really hits the spot on a blazing hot day.

Side note, this isn’t just blended watermelon and ice (which is more of a slushy). Instead, this is a luscious smoothie recipe loaded with watermelon, strawberries, vanilla Greek yogurt, and milk (you can use dairy-free also). Sound refreshing and delicious? I think yes!

What’s In This Watermelon Smoothie

Smoothies should be quick and easy, so this recipe calls for just 4 ingredients. Here’s what you’ll need.

  • Watermelon: I’m using fresh cubed watermelon, which makes this smoothie slurpable. But if you want it EXTRA thick you could freeze the watermelon cubes overnight.
  • Strawberries: Frozen is best to keep the smoothie thick and creamy!
  • Vanilla Greek Yogurt: I’m using vanilla yogurt for a hint of sweetness and added flavor. But feel free to use any dairy or non-dairy yogurt.
  • Milk: Any type of milk will work, but I personally love to use non-dairy milks such as almond milk or cashew milk!

A Few Tips

  • Make it less creamy by removing the yogurt and using a banana instead.
  • Make it thicker by adding another cup of frozen strawberries or using frozen watermelon instead.

Description

This easy and creamy watermelon smoothie recipe is everything you want on a hot summer day!

Ingredients 
 

  • 3 cups cubed seedless watermelon
  • 1 cup frozen strawberries
  • ½ cup vanilla Greek yogurt
  • ½ cup almond milk (or other milk of choice)

Instructions 

  • Add the watermelon, strawberries, yogurt, and milk to a high powered blender, and blend until smooth.

  1. My daughter just had her tonsils removed. I would love to make this since it would keep her hydrated and soothe her throat, but I was also thinking about adding ginger to it to help bring the inflammation in her throat down. Would this be a good addition and if so, how much ground ginger could I add without overpowering the smoothie?

    1. Hi Val – I haven’t tried this with ginger, but I would start with one teaspoon and add more from there. Hope your daughter recovers quickly!

  8. I just made this after looking for a watermelon drink recipe.  Easy and economical. Especially when I love smoothies.  I used what I had . . . Substitute frozen raspberries for frozen strawberries, oat milk for almond milk.  Very good!!  I love making things at home.  It relaxes me. High fives to you! 5 stars

  13. I made this. I didn’t have any vanilla yoghurt so used skyr 5% Greek yoghurt and added some vanilla extract in. It is a lovely and refreshing smoothie. I have put the strawberries in the freezer to try it with frozen. I am trying to put good things into my body and keep hydrated.5 stars

    Instructions say to add banana but it’s not listed in ingredients.

  18. Don’t see banana in the recipe, but it is listed in the instructions. How much banana should be used? Also, if using plain Greek yogurt instead of vanilla, can vanilla extract be substituted? If so, how much would you recommend? Thank you 

    1. I actually just tweaked the recipe, as there is no banana in this :) As for the yogurt, you can use plain Greek yogurt. I would just add about a teaspoon of vanilla extract.

  19. When were you going to add the yogurt? It said add the milk, but nothing about the yogurt. Did I miss something, probably did.?

I didn’t think this would be good  and I was wrong and This is soooo good, so I was born and raised in Korea and living in Europe right now, it kind of reminds me of strawberry milk that I used to drink in korea. I cant find those starwberry milk here but this totally hits the spot that I missed, its creamy yet refreshing! Thank you Lisa for coming up with this recipe!  5 stars

  22. So what are the ingredients? You list watermelon, strawberries, almond milk and vanilla Greek yogurt. But in the description it’s watermelon, strawberries, banana and milk.
