Ubud is a healthy food lover’s dream. Organic, raw, vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, paleo-friendly cafes line every main street. In fact, there’s so many healthy cafes in Ubud that even after living there a month, I had a hard time sampling them all.
In the world of healthy travel, I’d say that’s a good problem to have!
But Ubud is also home to several world-class, fine dining establishments. Upscale restaurants well-suited to the discerning gastronome or for a romantic night out. Restaurants who view dining as a memorable experience – where food sensitivities and dietary restrictions are greeted with open arms as a creative challenge to the chef.
As a world traveling celiac, that’s music to my ears!
So if you’re looking for the best restaurants in Ubud – for a healthy, exquisite and worry-free culinary experience – you’d be smart to splurge at these three spots:
(Note: always notify the restaurants ahead of time of any specific dietary restrictions)
1. Bridges Bali
The view at Bridges Bali is in a word – spectacular. Overlooking the Campuhan River, the restaurant offers breathtaking views from multiple levels of dining. Bridges serves both Balinese and Western delicacies and has the only wine bar in Ubud. The goal at Bridges Bali is to pleasure your five senses – and I say they’ve succeeded. Especially after eating the Balinese spiced duck leg.

2. Locavore
The name says it all with Locavore – it’s all about “local” food. Chefs Eelke Plasmeijer and Ray Adriansyah serve up tantalizing and unique flavor combinations with ingredients from local farms, fishermen and artisans. The dining room is cozy with an open kitchen – perfect for watching the chef’s work their magic. Quite simply, Locavore is an unpretentious foodies paradise.

3. Mozaic
If you mention fine-dining in Ubud, chances are someone will recommend Mozaic. Its an award-winning 5-star restaurant that offers a truly unique culinary experience. Chef/owner Chris Salans offers three innovative tasting menus, prepared from the finest local and imported ingredients. I had the 8-course Grand Menu (yes, all for me!) and it did not disappoint.

Oh my goodness!! I do so miss Bridges!! It’s great to see it made your top three, Lisa! One of my all time favourite Balinese restaurants and with such a sensational walk from the centre of town to get there. If only we could fast forward through this COVID-19 business and get back there again soon!
;)
Oh I’m going to Bali next year so I will DEFINITELY be saving this post to check out these restaurants. Thanks for sharing.
